Week #4 Advent Devotions for Families with School Age Children & Youth

Opening Prayer:
Gracious God, as we feel your imminent presence, the light and greens encourage us and excite us. We leap for joy knowing that we are blessed.  We know great things have been done for us.  Help us serve others this season.  Help us to always be humble and grateful.  In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Listen to the words of the Prophet Micah:

But you, O Bethlehem of Ephrathah, who are one of the little clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me one who is to rule Israel, whose origin is from of old, from ancient days.  Therefore he shall give them up until the time when she who is in labor has brought forth; then the rest of his kindred shall return to the people of Israel.  And he shall stand and feed his flock in the strength of the Lord, in the majesty of the name of the Lord his God.  And they shall live secure, for now he shall be great to the ends of the earth; and he shall be the one of peace.

Candle Lighting:

Speak these words while lighting the first, second, & third candles:
O God, rejoicing, we remember the promise of your Son.  As we light these candles, we magnify and praise your name.  Our spirits rejoice in knowing that you are near.  We remember your humble servants who fulfilled your word with humility and reverence. Make us your servants also. Strengthen us this season and help us to reach out to those in need.   We ask this through Christ our Lord.  Amen.

Your High’s & Low’s for the day.

Luke 1: 39-55

How does the Gospel relate to our High’s & Low’s?

Pray:  Heavenly Father, we, like your servant Mary, honor and magnify your holy name.  Fill us with your Holy Spirit, just as you filled your servant Elizabeth.  Empower us, equip us, and make us your servants.  In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Bless:  Child of God, holy servant, go out and show the world that his coming is upon us.

I spent most of my life living in the great Pacific Northwest (Oregon). I went to college in South Carolina. I have also lived in Arkansas, North Carolina, kind of Virginia, Texas, & currently Pennsylvania. I’m a single-mom of two amazing children (aka – “The Things”) who keep life very interesting! I’m a pastor-in-training. The snark is fiercely strong with me! #Javaluia #VivaMoreCoffee
